Joseph Tilly became an apprentice to John Trubshaw on the 6 July 1696, he was made a brother freeman of The Clockmakers Company in 1703.

Originaly this clock would have had a verge and folio escapement together with a pull quarter repeat. At some point all these parts have been removed. During restoration a new verge and folio escapment was made for the clock.
