Claude Du Chesne was a French huguenot, due to religious persecution he immigrated to England in 1693. He was made a Brother Freeman of the Clockmakers Company in the same year and established his business at St Anne’s Westminster, London. During his working life, he took on two apprentices Issac Tierrelin in 1716 at a cost of £10 and John Talbot in 1720 at a cost of £15.
