William Monk was born in 1670 to William Monk Snr and Susannah Jarvis who were married in Berwick St John .
In some listings he is titled Blacksmith and in others Clockmaker. There were several variations of the signature he used, Wm Monk Fecit, Wm Monk Barwick St John and Wm Monk Barwick.
