Very little is known about Thatcher (born before 1716 died 1773), except that he worked out of Cranbrook in Kent and was probably trained by John Kingsworth. George had at least one apprentice, Obadiah Body whom he took on in 1716. Thatcher probably also trained his own son Thomas, as his work greatly resembles that of his father. The Thatcher family business was sold in 1771 to Abraham Body, who was the son of Thatcher's former apprentice Obadiah Body.
