Matthew Worgan 1725 - 1798 was the son of Thomas Worgan who was a freeman cutler. Matthew was apprenticed to John Salmon from 1741 -1747and became a freeman in 1750.He traded from Wine Street, Bristol and shared his premises with Benjamin Willoughby who was a notable clock maker
Matthew snr. had a son called Matthew who also became a clockmaker. Matthew jnr. went on to become keeper of the church clocks in central Bristol and churchwarden at St Mary Redcliffe.
